Marketing experts often complicate things to make it seem like you could never do the things that they do. Let me clear up the confusion and give you some tips on marketing suggestions that everyone can do, this will be specifically tailored to new/small businesses that cannot afford to spend a lot of money on their marketing! 1. Make a plan 

Warren Buffet once said, “an idiot with a plan can beat a genius without a plan”. Personally, I listen to advise from billionaires because they make a few more zeros than I do (unfortunately). A plan is essential for every part of your life, but it is especially important for business and marketing because you need to track what you have been doing and trying.  


2. Keep trying new things

Be extensive in your efforts, continue to try new things. Sometimes things will work for a little but everything has an expiration date so it is important to make sure you are keeping on top of what is working in your niche. On another good note, just because a specific tactic is working does not mean that it is the most valuable tool. So again, keep trying new things and keep your mind open to new opportunities!

3. Metrics 

This can be complicated at times to understand your metrics, but remember there is no rush (and if there is you should bite the bullet and hire an expert). Metrics help you figure out what is working and what is not, so keep an eye on them. Understanding what works and doesn’t is the most important factor, but this can also help you understand your return on investment (ROI) on each opportunity. 


4. Organic outreach opportunities

As a small business owner Organic outreach will be your best friend! To leverage organic outreach opportunities it is important to use social media specifically Facebook and Linkedin in the B2B market. But for B2C you want to use Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok which are all pretty good in terms of ROI. Make sure that you have a referral program, and if you cannot or do not want to offer one. Still, ask your clients for referrals, if you do great work they would be happy to help! Last but not least is search engine optimization (SEO) which helps your ranking on google and other search engines, you want to make sure you are high up on the search results for relevant topics!
